lisa and bobby smith were elated when their daughter, haley, arrived on august 20, 2000. she was the perfect little baby, or so they thought. >> can you play some more? her first seizure was when she was five months old. >> five months? >> yeah. >> up until that point? >> normal, happy, developmentally, right on track. but she was also my first child, so could i have had blinders on and didn't see some of the signs that were there. >> haley's seizures became more frequent, more violent. >> she didn't get diagnosed till she was 7. that was a true roller coaster. >> yeah, 7 years old. >> awful, the first seven years, because we didn't know what was wrong with her. >> yeah. >> reporter: over the years, haley's mystery only deepened. she was eventually diagnosed with dravet syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy that can be fatal. do you live your life on a kind of razor's edge? >> anywhere you went with her, you would just hold her and think, okay, she has a seizure right here, what am i gonna do? >> reporter: treating dravet syndrome is a challenge. quite often, epilepsy drugs d

lisa murkowski. >> before justice kennedy announced his retirement, democratic congressman adam smith in the housef representatives said, the supreme court is no longer a judicial body, it is an arm of the republican party. what's your reaction to that? >> that's certainly comports with what president trump said. he said the supreme court should always remain republican. he has every intention of nominating somebody who will be a rubber stamp for the republicans, or the trump party. it is not a republican party. it's the trump party. >> jeff toobin says this retirement could eventually lead to roe v wade being overturned. do you agree? >> yes, i think it will come to that circumstance, because president trump has said that he wants to nominate people to the supreme court who will overturn roe v wade. so he's going to look for somebody like that. i would say that is a real possibility and that is why i'm looking to people like susan collins and lisa murkowski with only a 51 vote requirement to confirm the next supreme court justice to really look into their hearts and souls and do the right thing.

the ig report itself, the american people now with peter strzok, lisa page are becoming familiar with the name kevin kling smithbut we know from the ig report they were more, at least two. we also know that there are already part of the mueller probe, at least eight attorneys who have been strong supporters of democrats and the democrat party, so we want to know who else is involved in this thing? with got to have that list of names vetted. >> melissa: the ig's job is only half done. he did the first part of the investigation about the clinton email scandal, the second part is going to be about the russia probe. why not wait until he finishes his work? >> we certainly are. we are going to see what he finds but we have oversight responsibility ourselves. at this point, the ig report that has come out has raised a lot of questions for which we need answers and part of that is the fact that many of these bias people willing to use their position to alter the election they went from there into the mueller probe. so is our responsibility, we're just pursuing that which we have a duty to pursue and of course horwitz

they pitched together to become ceo and president, also stacy smith, who worked at intel for many years and recently left. and other names, lisas running google cloud, diane bryant who was cpo for a time at intel, and is now working at google, so how do these names strike you? >> a couple things, they are all highly qualified people, but it is interesting they are all outsiders. intel in its history has never had an outsider ceo. and this is a company that in the last five years under brian krzanich, the bench has been thinned out, in part because maybe he did not make room for strong executives underneath him. so the fact we are talking about outsiders, former intel executives who are now elsewhere, as potential ceos, that is a stunning thing for one of silicon valley's iconic companies that has always hired from within. emily: also interesting many of these intel veterans left after he became the ceo. clearly, the bench at this point isn't as strong as it was a decade ago. >> it was a stronger bench even five years ago, when brian krzanich became ceo. and some of those people were in the running for the post and it did not g
