(grant) lawrence... lawrence karnow: we have seen a variety of clouds around the bay area today. there has been patchy fog and cool temperatures at the coast with highs in the 50s and 60s. and there were high clouds that moved in late in the day but it was still hot inland with highs in the 80s to low 90s inland and 70s and 80s around the bay. monsoonal clouds continue to bring thunderstorms across the sierra and some of the that moisture is headed our way. there is a slight chance of thunderstiorms late tonight and into early tomorrow morning. y

blake spataro spent ten hours adrift after a rip current dragged him into the ocean off the georgia coastthe 19-year-old says he screamed for help but nobody heard him. his sister called 911 when she couldn't find him and the coast guard searched for him through the night. blake floated on his back to condition serve energy and made sure he held on to his glasses. >> i saw the lifeboats and the coast guard all patrolling the coast looking desperately for me but they had no clue where i was and i had no means of getting in touch with them. i saw lights and trees for miles and it felt so, so cruel just to be that far out from civilization when it's right in front of you. >> i was up and down the beach all night screaming, hollering, sitting there and no one that i could not go out and, you know, and find him. and very tough. >> blake drifted for three miles when the sun came up, he saw a golf course that he was able to swim to. lifeguards says he did all the right things. they say if you're caught in a rip current and get tired of swimming parallel to shore float on your back to save energy
