angela hernandez of portland was missing since july 6th when her jeep went over a cliff. then last night, two hikers found her and called for help. reporter josh christiano caught up with those hikers today. >> reporter: these two saw something strange friday evening. >> we saw a bumper first and thought, there's a bumper. huh, that's weird. we came around the bend and saw the car. >> reporter: it was a 2011 white, jeep patriot. they didn't realize it was the car search and rescue teams had been looking for for days. angela hernandez now found alive, telling authorities she swerved off the road to avoid hitting a rabbit, sending herself off the cliff and down to the rocky bottom. >> there wouldn't have been any survivors. the car was -- you saw it, like, pretty bad. and there weren't any signs of people or blood or anything. >> reporter: the couple started collecting items from the jeep, including the license plate, in hopes of giving it to law enforcement. >> they walked back to their campsite about a mile or two from here along the beach. that's when they found hernande

in the days that followed, hernandez walked the beach searching for help, climbing on rocks to avoidng on the shore to get away from hot rocks, she said. i found a high spot i was able to climb up to and found myself there almost every day. i could see cars driving across the cliff and felt like if i could yell just loud enough, that one could hear or see me. that's all it would take to make it back to my family. just one person noticing me. rescue crews had searched the area and found no "obvious" signs that a car had gone over a cliff. by the third day, hernandez's jeans were torn, her socks had holes and she kneweray back to car and found a 10-inch raatash. on the seventh day to hiker spotted her. >> she was on the rocks and looked like hell. she was happy at the same time. she was happy to see us. >> at that point, we panicked with adrenaline. oh my god, you were in the car we just saw. you are alive and must need help. >> reporter: help came soon after. in a news conference today, the monterey county sheriff spoke about the dramatic rescue. she said people do not normally surviv
