an amtrak train in newark hit a mini van today.was heading from san jose to sacramento at 8:45 this morning when it hit the van. nobody on the train was hurt. another train picked up the 24 passengers so they could continue their journey. just last sunday two people in a car died when according to investigators, the driver went around a crossing arm in san jose. a train slammed into that vehicle. the crash was captured on surveillance video as you see here. the vta driver and 20 passengers on the train were not hurt. >>> a driver trying to avoid a deer on an east bay crashed killing two people. it happened just after 10:30 last night in castro valley, near the intersection of redwood and mars yell road. when officers arrived they found a red mitsubishi on its roof. they were five people in the car, and they all had to be extra indicated. >> a driver swerved to miss the deer, and hit an embankment. >> both passengers who died were in the backseat and were women, one 25 years of age and the other 28. one that was injured is 15 years

police say he could face charges in pleasant ton and newark as well as fremont. >>> a newly released grand jury report is raising questions about the men low park spending contributions. the report says the fire district doesn't have the strategic plan for future growth but it's still making millions dollars worth of land purchases including a home next to station three that the firef million. but doesn't plan to develop for at least ten years. >> we're not saying the money has been spent inappropriately but we're saying it's been spent without the planning documents strategic planning documents to ensure it's being spent appropriately. >> that's a prudent purchase. >> is it needed? >> it's not needed right away. >> now the report also questioned the fire district's decision to solicit money from facebook after it was denied impact fees from surrounding municipalities. the jury found accepting donations from facebook or any other resident of the district raises ethical questions. the fire district chief and the board president say they're taking steps now to develop a strategic plan.
