this new, 5-acre park will be at no cost to rec/park. it will connect the 1.5 million waterfront park continuing to rec-park's properties and terminating the shipyard's park. the private sponsor is committed to creating a community district that will enhance maintenance and support of the spaces. i understand that this commission was briefed last week on projections for how high the ocean could rise. an opponent of the sea level rise strategy requires that these projects agree to form a facilities district that will contribute to future reap sources for sea level-rise mitigation. like pier 70, india basin and all future bay projects will be required to create districts that establish a site-specific tax. it ensures that future dollars are captured for protection of the areas beyond the borders of the projects. additional benefits include the project will make $10 million contribution to offsite transportation and sustainability fee. the sponsor will construct neighborhood transit, including a bike lane connecting the sites, with existing

rec centers. this is the heart and soul of who we are. it's the examples of work we've done with partners with public works and planning. it's sites that offer use and multiuse facility. it's crucial. it's a better return on our investments. it's multigenerational and some of the sites that you will see, glen canyon, sunset rec center. the sites offer a multitude of uses, for example, adding a children's playground, a gym, able to offer a wealth of programming opportunities at this site. we're also able to put in the walking path for our adults and seniors. this is children's playground. this is an example of some of the work that we've done in the last few years. south park, which is quite a successful project. beautiful project. we've renovated 94 out of 130 playgrounds in our portfolio. that's quite significant. here's the pivot. let's look into the future. we now have a new mayor that was sworn in last week. this is a quote from her a few days before she was sworn in. when i see this quote, i see a lot in this. this affects different

only rec center in the south of market. and it is undergoing major capital plan, where we can build up the rec center to increase recreational capacity by building additional floors on site. there will also be a rec center that is part of a deal with one of the key sites. this was mentioned by ms. chen. this will be the first new swimming pool -- in fact the only swimming pool that will be built in the south of market and it will also include a kid-learning pool for young children. and so there are plans to build more parks and honestly many of our residents are hesitant about the new parks even being included in the plan, so we're really pushing the neighborhood on accepting the new parks. there is going to be a considerable obligation expected both office of residential developers into terms of the open space they provide in the plan. and finally, a greater investment in the rec center and the gardens. i want to appreciate your point about how do we specifically leverage within the public spaces that the city is building

the website is listing it as accessible and it's really only if you search for the actual rec center it's not located on the general play area site. so there's a lot to improve on. so just so we learn more about this center, these are pictures, not on the website, that we have taken to just show a bit about the accessibility features per se. it looks like on this back area of the playground there's a picture right here of a very narrow kind of ramp on the playground which is kind of showing some access but it is an older rec center that hasn't been renovated in a while and that ramp is not the greatest and it kind of gets you out there but it's not quite extremely accessible. this picture right here is kind of where that ramp goes. i don't really know where that ramp goes. it's basically a picture and it has it on the back of the play bound and it's very -- playground and it's very narrow and it drops off on the edging and so definitely room to improve on the access of the information to see what accessible playground looks like and how we're trying to improve that. and so what emily

so does most of your funding come from rec and park? or does it come from other areas? >> emily and i work within the department. so our programs are ultimately funded with whatever the budget of rec and park gets from wherever we get the budget. do you know, emily? >> in regards to the budget just to add on, jim, we're currently -- so we primarily serve kids with disabilities but we also have opportunities for adults and seniors. we're currently in transition for our senior program. so we have a program who are seniors, adults and seniors, who have visual impairments and another program is for adults and seniors who are deaf or hard-of-hearing and then there's another population to where they're deaf and blind. so that's a program that we're currently in transition for. and we also partner with the school district for our access programs. i believe that, helen, you had a question with partnering with school districts. access programs are something that we actually partner up with san francisco school district. and these are transition adults who are 18 to 22, and we pr

one of the gardens i love is the pomeroy rec center. >> pomeroy has its roots back to 1952. my name is david, and i'm the chamber and ceo of the pomeroy rehabilitation and recreation center. we were a center for people with intellectual and development cal disabilities in san francisco san francisco. we also have a program for individuals that have acquired brain injury or traumatic brain injury, and we also have one of the larger after school programs for children with special needs that serves the public school system. the sf carbon fund for us has been the launching pad for an entire program here at the pomeroy center. we received about $15,000. the money was really designed to help us improve our garden by buying plants and material and also some infrastructure like a drip system for plants. we have wine barrels that we repurposed to collect rain water. we actually had removed over 1,000 square feet of concrete so that we could expand the garden. this is where our participants, they come to learn about gardening. they learn about our work in the greenhouse. we have plant
