for a year." [ laughter ] but you can't do it for three years. [ light laughter ] which was great adce advice. you know, again, i would feel intimidateworking with somebody i have known that long. are there people -- are there celebrities that you've met over the years that you are intimidated by in the moment that you meet them? >> you know, as you do all the time, you do get to meet people who are kind of pretty great. i had a good one last week. not really a show biz-y thing. i was in like, a stationery store in london getting some highlighters. >> seth: ohty. he had been adc circuit judge before being appointed to the court. he was a lifelong friend of blac kmon. it was burger who suggested blackmon as a nominee for the eighth circuit. court,ackmon joined the burger expected he and blackmon would be of one mind. over time there was a fisher -- relationship.eir roe v. wade was the beginning of that. by the end of their lives, their friendship was in tatters. the court felt the strain of that tension. burger was famously in terms of his celebration and pomp and circumstance, and that war on numbers of the court. when members prepared to hear this case, it did not have its full complement of members. can you talk about why? >> the court takes the case in 1971, both roe and doe. they took the cases to decide younger versus harris and its application. younger was a divisive case that had been decided 60 days before the court took roe and doe. younger involve the question of whether civil rights attorneys could take cases from state court pending criminal prosecutions into federal court. that general factual sc
