northbound 680 is completely closed. as they pan around, we're going to show the backup that's coming up toward capitol expressway. there you go. there's all the stream of lights. head lights northbound slammed us coming around the bend. you see folks flooding onto city streets. capitol expressway, capitol avenue both flooded as you travel to northbound 101. there's the closure. and sky ranger is showing you chp over there at capitol expressway. capitol avenue, king, and 101 north are all avenues where folks are trying to find a way around the full closure from the continued investigation of the overnight shooting. now we're seeing the ripple as we're hitting more impactful 101 and expecting more impact on 87 and 280 as folks try to find their way around the big backup. that will remain in place for a while. no updates from chp but i'm going to guess no earlier than 6:30, and that's the earliest that i expect anything to reopen. fortunately for the rest of the bay, that's the only thing going on as far as slowdowns. no p

northbound 680 is shut down from the alum rock -- alum rock exit northbound driving up toward variouss a closure on the map. more people are finding out about it and it looks like the closure, the actual backup isn't as big. people are using different freeways now. northbound 101 is very slow because people are avoiding 680 and have heard about the closure. they're not even bothering to go this way at all. they're going this way but that means more traffic in the valley. i want to back up and we can see traffic is not affected e a to get to the west side of the valley. let's talk about the tracy commute but you can see traffic is busy on 205 and 580 driving over to the altamont pass it gets better by castro valley and hayward. this is a look at interstate 880 in oakland. it is fine. when you get to the babe the metering lights are on. let's bring steve in with today's weather. >>> how is sfo looking? heading out to denver this morning. it looks okay. at least for right now. arriving flights usually around 6:00 or 7:00is find -- is fine. maybe some delaysw orleans, mia looks fine. the

it's a very busy place in the morning commute 680 northbound. so completely shut down as you work your way through the south bay. a lot of the closure is between jackson and berryessa and again, this is due to police activity. use north capitol to berryessa is a good choice. you can also use 880. traffic is backed up beyond 101 so it's starting to affect traffic past 101 so that's going to cause some there's through there. use 880 as an alternate great in both directions no delays. much better choice instead of northbound 680. 680 shut down around capitol expressway. if you want to take north 880 out of the south bay into oakland, everything is good. towards the bay bridge, no delays right now. everything is clear with free- flowing conditions out of oakland into san francisco. that's an easy ride. 580 this morning we are seeing delays here through the altamont pass. one of our hot spots now 28 minutes so an extra 8 to 10 minutes for your drive time. good news west 80 the eastshore freeway no delays now. loveridge to 880, 12 minutes. looking goo

and why northbound 680 is back open. they got a call from the police department at 3:00 a.m., became a chp investigation. a man told investigators he was driving his honda accord on 680 when he was shot at. the man was hit but able to drive off of 680 and all the way to the 7-eleven parking lot at flickinger. the front tire was gone. he told officers he had no idea why someone shot at him. the man was taken to the hospital and no word on his condition but he was talking and did look okay. here is a look at northbound 680 as you can see. we passed mckee road and looks like we're coming up on to berryessa road. the traffic is moving okay. a lot of pent up traffic back there at capitol expressway where the closure was. a lot of people happy to be getting on to the road and seeing traffic flowing like this. of course it's been a headache all morning long. the chp investigation on 680 is over now. back to you in the studio. >> thanks for the update. >>> let's talk about mass transit now. some more problems for bart in the eas
