tim carney, welcome back. this ways you do for a living. where do you start with the president's attacks on the press or their reaction to it which might backfire? >> i think it's sort of a dumb slur to say fake news enemy of the people, and these things coming from the president is worse. if you are saying about newspapers it can be dumb. it's the president who has the power, the i.r.s. at its finger tips. we don't like the government sticking their fingers where they don't belong and i don't like politicians sticking their opinions in things that aren't their business. but i don't like 300 newspapers coming together and singing the same hymn *. it ignores the fact that a lot of the major media acts in a way that they hate 40% of the country. they act with disdain toward a major portion of the country. kennedy: that's why what the president says resonates with those people. the "l.a. times" decided not to publish one of those editorials. they said they don't lean on anyone else for editorial direction and they don't expect other newspapers
