william la jeunesse has more from los angeles this morning. william? >> well, it is a sad news.ssive form of cancer for about a year and a half, i believe. he will now have said that he is going to stop treatment. he was first elected to the house in arizona back in 1982. i met him in 1981 when he was running and he appeared before the editorial board of the newspaper that i was at. he was always a fighter. maverick even then. he met cindy mccain. they married a short time later. had several children. he has been spending most of his time up in cornville at a ranch near sedona when w. his wife for probably the last six or seven months. he has not been in the senate at all. obviously he will not be showing back up. governor doug doocy will be appointing a replacement for senator mccain. and i believe that will be through the next two years until the next general election. too late for this particular election. if he had stepped down prior to may, it would have been different. now i believe the governor will appoint a replacement for senator mccain. thoughts and prayers are obviou
