jesus was tough. he operated with truth and grace at all times. hit a gracious disposition. it makes us political jerks and asses. it is that unique combination of truth and grace that jesus described that we want to aim for. >> we want to find ways to re- frame the issue of our day in light of the bible's teaching. i tried to do that a moment ago with human dignity. if we affirm the bible's teaching we will affirm that unborn lives matter. and that they really and truly do matter not only to god but to us. and then the undocumented lives matter. all people should be treated with the dignity that they deserve created in the image and likeness of god. and with christ. there is any number of other issues. and what we need to determine is this. we will be faithful to christ the king and let the chips fall where they may. and hopefully, if he grants us a gift we will be able to break society's ability to classify it and dismiss it as the special interest arm of political interest group. or political leader. and then finally, that would allow us to make christianity interest again. we can make a hat. number four, we should work hard to revitalize our nation's cultural institutions let me speak just for conservative questions for a moment. i am one. we put too many of our eggs in the basket of short-term political activism in the last 30 years. it has its place it is not wrong to engage in it. but it's almost as if that has been most of the game. and when you do that. the problem is we are putting all of the eggs in the basket of politics. when there's some other avenues to bring change to society. you're putting all of your hopes in the short term rather than in the long haul. so instead of that. let's realize that we need to carve out a path of christian faithfulness and all of those fears of culture i mentioned art, science, education. 's politics. sports and competition. church and state. marriage and family. and that when we are faithful and faithfully present and working to un- tryst has been twisted in each of these areas the combined working with a witness and the power of it is all the greater. we want to be careful with panic of panic politics. the entire future of our nation rides writes on this. the history of our nation rises entirely on that. we will put ourselves in the full frontal embrace. whatever political ear. we cannot do that as christians. that is a perception of us. and often for good reasons. we need to break the perception. and instead work for a long-term witness. what dispositions and what type of speech set us up for success over the next 30 or 40 or 50 years so that our children and grandchildren can flourish. and then in conclusion. i just want to say and i hope you gain this. i hope i don't have to say this. the relationship with politics is not an insignificant manner. it is in some ways and especially challenging one. for bible believing christians. we are seen the rise increasingly of a post- christian left and right. on the whole that is what we are seen. there are secular ways of thinking. and acting and behaving and misbehaving. in the public square. unless god grants us a special election and i'll think that will stop in the near future. this is a new normal. we've to work to make it not the new normal. it is the chance of this is the new normal. our society will lose much of what is good if it rejects the christian aspect of its heritage. such as the teaching on human dignity. i want to encourage us to embrace this moment. as a difficult moment. but instead of slouching away in withdrawal on the one hand or charging it to an angry activism. maintain the christian commitments and composure. in our christian calling. and as we land the plane now. where jesus have just been crucified. he appears to his disciples. they are afraid. they are in a defensive path says. afraid for their own lives. and jesus appears to them through locked doors and comes to them. as a father has sent me so have i sent you. i will be with you always he declared in a thousand different ways that have the allegiance to any political party or candidate. jesus remains forever. he is the king forever. he was prophetic. he was sacrificial. the cosmic king of the university was willing to minister. and be publicly humiliated and crucified. on our behalf. to save us from our sins and a down payment for the fact that he won't return one day. one party system in which justin's will roll down like the waters. and then finally if we want to be like jesus will be humbly confident. we have a confidence that he will return one day. where humbled because it won't be as who does it. we operate in the humble confidence that christ is king and we are witnesses on his behalf you know
