from ocean beach to concord, about 40 miles, the temperature spread is 38 degrees. from cool additions to the coast, really heating up inland. today the warmest day out of the week. a high pressure in place with the clockwise flow. we are looking at offshore winds and that is a dominant weather feature for inland communities helping them to warm up. we have low pressure to the south and that is bringing in onshore winds for the coast and for parts of the bay. that is why we started with areas of fog. a big difference with the weather from the coast and inland. we are tracking some changes. this is tropical storm rosa. that could provide some tropical moisture for us. and the chance of showers by next week. we could use the rain. it has been five months since we have seen rain in the bay area. in san jose, today making 163 days in a row without any measurable rain. that puts us now in the seventh spot. by friday, we tie the 1962 record. we definitely need the rain. it's been very dry over the last several months. daytime highs today, 69 in san francisco. 76 in oaklan

so these areas like wilmington, ocean beach, carolina beach, all of these le tiny communities down towards myrtle beach are just getting repeats, repeat, repeats of rainfall. i've seen reports of people, some friends, some people that i know saying it's pretty bad where i am. in horry county, where there is conway and myrtle beach, it's miserable. it's not just dreary, but the wind is blowing. power outages to the tune of about 50% in horry county. also in north carolina, some of those coastal counties, the amount of people, the percentage of people who are without power is close to 100%. and then you go further inland, and it can be 70%. so it's been staggering. all across the carolinas, you just saw almost a million people in both states without power, and that's in a more confined area. well, it looks like this is going to shift towards west-southwest and kind of drift over here towards the appalachians. but the rainfall totals are still going to be amazing. the computer models, wow, they were spot-on when they were saying 20 and 30 inches of rainfall. we haven't seen 30 yet. this storm
