scott, our partner, the university of women, cites research that cumberland county in your district has one of the greatest pay gaps in the entire state between top earners in the working poor. even cities can step -- can set their minimum wages. are you in favor of raising the minimum wage? athas not gone up from $7.25 the federal level or in pennsylvania since 2009. mr. scott: yes, i do support raising the minimum wage, but gradually. so that small businesses have time to adjust. a gradual increase in the minimum wage is long overdue. in my ministry i have seen family after family come in with people working full-time, and yet at the end of the day cannot afford to make ends meet. this is not just unique to central pennsylvania. we as a nation have this going on. united way brought out a study that shows 43% of households in our nation at the end of the month cannot pay for basic necessities of life. certainly we have an economy that is expanding, but it is not lifting up everyone. for many people, they do not have a boat for the rising tide lifts. they are stuck trying to tread water

it happened saturday morning on cumberland street.ficers arrived on scene, they found 38-year-old jjuan sanders suffering from a gunshot wound. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. police believe sanders and the gunman knew each other-- but so far no arrests have been made. there are several businesses in the area, and officers are now reviewing surveillance video (jr) in the south bay... eleven people are safe but displaced after a fire rips through a home in san jose. the fire was reported just before eight-thirty this morning and crews had it under control in about a half an hour. firefighters say the flames started in the attic and was accidental in nature. the red cross is helping to house the eleven people who were displaced. (jr) funding has been approved and a site selected for a new l-g-b-t-q focused homeless shelter in san jose. planning started on the project after a homeless youth told supervisors they felt safer on the streets than in the already existing shelters.
