host: what is it about jacky rosen that you support?hat policies does she espouse you find yourself in line with? caller: she wants to protect social security. she wants to protect the affordable health care act and the wages of working people. host: one of the issues coming out and moving forward to november, the confirmation of brett kavanaugh to the supreme court. both parties looking at that issue, saying it is the prolonged and contentious fight over brett kavanaugh's appointment that -- 's after kavanaugh confirmation saturday, democrats hoping they can rebound ahead of november's election with one group of voters leading the way. no voter block will be more closely watched than that of college-educated women, a group of voters that have become more democratic since the donald trump's election. democrats hope the gop support will push those women further to anyleft, an off to offset sustained gains and republican enthusiasm. one of those democrats to explain her vote is heidi heitkamp voted against judge kavanaugh and on her twitt

will keep an eye on him when he goes to an extreme position. >> one of the other messages was jackie rosen trying to distance herself from the nancy pelosi attacks. i hear this from people who definite pelosi and say if democrats ran the amount of ads that republicans ran against pelosi, if they ran those same number of ads against mitch mcconnell, he'd be a pariah too. why don't you go after republican leaders the way republicans go after democratic leaders? >> i don't think it's a message that really carries the day. voters are listening for both political parties to say something other than a political squabble under way in way. they're looking for us to address the issues that affect them there & futurand their fut of prescription drugs, making sure health insurance is available and affordable. the republicans can't win on those, so they get personal. >> i've talked to a lot of democratic activists this week in nevada and arizona. a lot of democratic strategists and a lot of them complained off the record about how senate democrats handled the kavanaugh situation. they're upset because

democratic congresswoman jackie rosen is polling democratic congresswoman jackie rosen is pulling within me from las vegas, nbc's steve patterson. steve, what are the voter turnout patterns looking like so far? is enthusiasm up and what is the sense of strategy on the ground as to whether the early voting number means as a whole they will be up or are they cannibalizing the election say vote? >> enthusiasm is through the roof. speaking to volunteers, they have not seen something like this in their lifetime. you look a time like 2014, last midterm election, only 27,000 people voted to this point. at this point now 70,000 people voted in the state of nevada. you want to look at a bellwether like clark county, 82,000 people, nearly two times or it is three times what it was in 2014. to answer your question, voter enthusiasm is through the roof. they're seeing patterns that will trend on into the election. again, it's still early, in early voting. only about three days in. so we'll have to see as this race goes on. just talking to voters in line, they're charged up, they're ready to vote for
