preparedness week. it's time to get your plan together. your emergency kit. your evacuation routes. how to communicate with your family. and think about flood insurance. >> one concern is just in general in california is ageing infrastructure. and how that becomes a real problem. if we have a flooding situation. >> yeah, it used to be that flood control infrastructure was paid by the federal government. in contra costa we have a billion dollars worth of assets. 80% of that was paid by the federal government. 10% local and 10% state. in order to replace it it cost $2.4 billion. we don't have the money. we have infrastructure that is over 50 years old and we have to deal with that. on top of everything else. >> we saw the report. we have had too many yais in california areas in california impacted by wild fire. people may not realize the problems that come from the fires then become worse when we get heavy rain in the winter time. >> it's terrible. it takes about two to five years for a regrowth to come. years you are at risk of mud slide, when you deal with mud slides they move fast
