old route 66 runs through new mexico like a collapsed vein, right through santa fe and albuquerque.once. families loaded in massive chrome and steel chariots with powerful v8 engines and took off down that blacktop highway. they slept in whimsical motor lodges and bungalows, swam in kidney-shaped pools. then, it all went redundant. route 66 was decommissioned, chopped up, largely forgotten, except by desperate and lazy travel show hosts. does anyone else on cnn do this, like, drive around like, 10:15 at night looking for tacos? yeah, probably. i'll say this, the strip takes on a much more interesting look at night. you could imagine dennis hopper huffing nitrous and dismembering somebody over an unrolled tarp in any one of those sinister-looking motel rooms. cool. well, hopefully the taco's first because after you do the meth, you really aren't going to want to eat. in ancient times, early drivers would hang the testicles of their enemies on their rearview mirrors. best case scenario around here in my humble opinion, taco truck of which there are quite a few. parking lot, the smell

she was a high school student in albuquerque, new mexico.er, but i'm pretty sure that wasn't cool in 1964 to be a pregnant mom in high school in albuquerque, new mexico. in fact, my grandfather who is another incredibly important figure in my life, went to bat for her, and the high school wanted to kick her out. you were not allowed to be pregnant in high school there. my grandfather said, you can't kick her out. it is a public school. she gets to go to school. then they negotiated for a while. then the principal said she can stay and finish the high school, but can't do extracurricular activities and can't have a locker. i know. my grandfather being a very wise man, he was like done. we will take that deal. she finished high school. she had me, then she married my dad. my dad is my real dad, not my biological dad. his name is mike. he is a cuban immigrant. he got a scholarship to college in albuquerque, which is where he met my mom. i have kind of a fairytale story. my grandfather, possibly, i am pretty sure because my parents were so young

so i spotted this place and it was 43 miles east of albuquerque new mexico it was called the longhorn museum and we shot by at 80 miles per hour . it was anybody on route 56 in the 50s and 60s? was that road any wider than this table? it's a narrow little road. when you drove on it, a lot of the sections and myths so it showed like a train. . but when my dad drove, so i picked up this place. it was on the longhorn museum , 43 miles east of albuquerque new mexico in a place called moriarty . so we got to iowa and we're eating for the 4th time of day down in swenson. no, that's right. marge, don't get us anything, we ate down at the larson license my dad you got to give me one place to stop at on the way back . you know what he said? we will get it, if we have time. i knew what that was about. he was going to drive right back to kingman and never stop for anything laxity is planned. i looked on the mac and santa rosa new mexico are coming out of the club cafc for breakfast. and legendary place. and we got in the car, my dad had a 1957 ford with a continental kid on the back . and we got
