this afternoon from magalia reservoir, the ridge above magalia reservoir, we did get some good air, were able to used fixed wing aircraft to run retardant along the ridge lines from magalia working down towards the origin of olga. one of the emphasis today was on rescue. we had numerous rescues today while actively fighting the fire in the big bend area. we had to use helicopters to rescue 5 people trapped down there in the area of magalia while we were doing structure to fence. we also had to assist people to areas of safety. thank you very much. evening. my name is alex hune. i'm a senior meteorologist with the national weather service in reno, nevada, and serving as the incident meteorologist for cal fire team 4 here on the camp fire. i just wanted to give a little background on the wind event that occurred yesterday, thursday and thursday night. we were seeing some very extreme winds when this fire began. it pushed the fire into, you know, areas around the paradise area and through the foothills and these winds were gusting up to 40, 50 miles an hour as the winds pushed the fire. we

in the town of paradise, magalia, concow, there was a lot of work. we continue to find hot spots and dangerous, hazardous areas, but we continue to work hard and put a lot of equipment in there to try and mitigate those hazards. in the santos rank area, we also had a successful day, although we had poor visibility and were not able to fly any aircraft. we were able to make good progress. we have a burn operation planned in there for this evening that will tie in from hell town up to nimshoe and connect the area below magalia. above magalia moving towards sterling city, the fire did continue to progress. we were able to put secondary and primary dozer line around sterling city to kind of help guide the fire away from sterling city. we were successful in doing that, and we're continuing to build direct and indirect line across the top and working back down towards the river drainage. today was a very successful day, however, there were a lot of challenges. the swirling winds and the limited visibility in multiple areas along with the steep, inaccessibl

all over the roadways, throughout the towns of paradise and magalia. we, with the understanding of the magalia sheriff, and paradise pd, we have taken on the mission of clearing the vehicles from the roadways. we were able to clear about 60 vehicles so far. and, we are going to be adding to that number rapidly, so all of the roadways could get ich i important piece of establishing safe access back to paradise. the information we are trying to update, we have a website that we are establishing. ght now, you can go to page and we are updating that in real time, kind of just with screenshots of what we are getting. we are going to be establishing a website on the chp that will link from that chp chico facebook page, which will show the license plate, the location it was recovered from, the make, model, the towing company and number. all of that is available. i encourage people if that is of interest to them, they can check up on that. we also, for the vehicles that were burned to the point that they are not readily identifiable, we have a team of investig

one was found magalia and those human remains were found inside a structure. the 71 human remains that we have found, we have tentatively identified 58 of those individuals. and we're waiting on dna confirmation to be able to say conclusively who they are and then we are in the process of notifying the next of kin. as of tonight, i had two additional individuals who have been positively identified and their next of kin has been notified. they are paula dodge, age 70 from paradise. and randall dodge, age 67, of paradise. as i told you last night, i was going to bring some subject matter experts with me to explain a little bit more about our process of searching for, recovering and identifying and ultimately determining the cause of death of individuals who we are able to recover. and i want to bring these individuals up and have them explain that. but i do want to give you a report on what has been happening with the assistance of the sacramento county coroner's office. so to date, the sacramento county coroner's office has received 63 decedents. the number is

(justine) take a look at this picture of downtown san francisco... looking down vallejo street toward the bay bridge. this was taken over the summer on clear day. now on the right of your screen.. is a photo of almost the same location, taken this weekend. you can't even see the bay bridge in this second picture.. because of the low visibliity from the smoke covering the city. (justine) and the air quality is not expected to get any better for a couple more days.(jrs) kron4's sanaz tahernia went out to the marin headlands near the golden gate bridge. and tells us there was nothing to see but smoke. i'm here at battery spencer and as you can see, the fog is extremely thick, so you can't quite see what the air quality looks like, but i can tell
