you had very recently is push back from filipino community, which was out of broadway in chinatown to south park and now is in central soma. they are pushing back because they are feeling endangered so when your planning commission and planning department processes projects that are not really aware of what the history of that area is and who lives there, it doesn't give you the tools to evaluate the project, to evaluate the shadows on the park. that is very important to the community. it doesn't give you the tools to evaluate the road that might be demolished that provides housing for low income populations. i am telling you existing housing is people of all races in the city. what we do know is the push for gentrification is coming from the department and dislocating communities and non-white communities. that is a fact of life. the tension that is paid at the planning department staff level and the commission is really important on this, and it starts with being grounded in existing housing and who lives in that housing. because i am dealing with chinatown and the filipino community and the m

course, he cares about chinatown, but he cares about the whole city, and in my community where i come from, the work that we were able to do to revitalize castro street, to create a new park in the valley, he was 1,000% supportive. two months after we both took office when the government cut millions of dollars of funding for h.i.v. services, when i went to see him to say what can we do about it, we need to fix this, he immediately stepped up and supported backfilling every penny of those federal cuts from our local budget. he was also someone who believes deeply and trying, whenever possible, to avoid conflict by bringing people together to work things out and to move forward together. he was just brilliant in making that happen. this was a terrible loss for san francisco, but he is in a good place now, at a gnocchi is looking down on as. i know he is looking down on mayor breed, and anita, we love you, and we deeply, deeply miss your husband and our friends. thank you. year-old senior living in chinatown was attacked by a man who forced his way into her home and sexually assaulted her. just yesterday, in viz valley, an 89-year-old was dragged into a park across from her home. we all agree that these types of behaviors are unacceptable in our cities, especially against immigrant communities. i urge the police to create a substation in viz valley, a community that has long suffered racial tensions. i also urge the commission to do more to provide our police officers with greater cultural understanding of the diverse communities they're sworn to protect. we need to do more to ensure the safety of our seniors and our immigrant communities here in san francisco. thank you. >> commissioner mazzucco: thank you. next speaker. >> good evening, commissioners, good evening, chief. my name is natalie chee. i am an assistant for supervisor shaman walton. we have been working hard with the san francisco police station to bring justice to the family. this morning our office visited the grandmother and her family in the i.c.u. in san francisco general hospital, and we are told that she is still in critical condition. it is absolutely heartbreaking to
