cloud plays seem to be driver of invest at silicon valley we're joined now by john thompson and the ceo. john, more and more, particularly over the past few weeks, the conversation that have been having with enterprise executives on the practicality of moving customers further into the cloud. it's about hybrid, how to rewrite applications to make them cloud able. is that the key tra t.j.ic thing that so many of the companies will have to figure out to figure out who surges ahead? >> what happens over the past couple of years is many of the large enterprises have needed to put in place a transition to the cloud. to the extend that providers could provide a hybrid model that gave customers options of figuring out do i do things on prints or do them many the cloud. that's been the key as it's moved from a high briybrid modea cloud model and it's driven their business >> is that what made you interested how did this fit in? >> i've always had a view about every ten years and that was the case when i met dipple he said what do you know about this, that or the other. i became impressed with h

>> the important thing about technology is that john thompson told us nine months ago that the technologyjob, but that it would not be ready for another three years. and what the brady amendment and they have been sharing have been looking at is extending the transition for another year, which would mean another four years since john thompson made these remarks. the technology is there and should be available. anna: that might be around tariffs. radtke, he has said that looking from the outside, it is impossible to tell. in terms of common standards and all of that sort of thing, making sure products comply with regulations, there needs to be technology on that front as well. >> the key thing is that it should not be done on the border, it should be behind, if at all. sides,hink most -- both everybody have said we are not going to have a hard border. a way that finding matches the requirements of the wto for some recognition you're going from one customs regime to another, and that would have quite a long time to sort that out. anna: richard e. grant, thank you so much for joining us, u.k
