"today in the bay's" laura sandbol brings us the powerful message for women for change. >> reporter: chanting as one and carrying signs proclaiming women's rights, thousands gathered at the civic center a plaza for the third annual women's march. >> we have overcome before and we will begin. >> reporter: what started out as a march reacting to president trump's election in 2017 has turned into a movement aimed at getting more women into positions of power. >> for the first year, it was really about hearing our voice, making sure that we're being heard. the second year was hear our vote. this year, it's about speaking truth to power and speaking to power is important because it needs to be done in your own voice. >> reporter: transitioning from a march into a movement has its challenges. women march from coast to coast, despite in-fighting and claims of anti-semitism among the movement's founders. >> this is a new movement. it's a child. it's a baby. right, there's a lot of growth, and there needs to be a lot more understanding. >> reporter: the mayor london breed has participated in
