the next thing to watch is the ninth circuit. ninth circuit is in california. most of you if not all of you are very familiar with the ninth circuit and how it works. it's a different kind of place. it is an often reversed kind of place. the president nominated, we had a number of vacancies on the ninth circuit and there are 29 active seats on the ninth circuit, six current vacancies. i hate to play partisan politics with judges because sometimes really because a republican or a democrat appoints you, it does not say what you are going to be but if you could just forgive me to talk about who appointed 16 democrat appointments. seven republican. this includes judge bennett and -- who came out of hawaii and judge nelson out of idaho. both appointed by trump. so, it's the back of the envelope, 16-7 court. there are six other vacancies. the president did nominate people for all vacancies. one which we know about, fantastic i -- fantastic guy. prosecutor, brilliant lawyer. did not get through the senate. which was unfortunate. and it was very painful to go through.
