we held a proposal meeting at pier 1. over 95 individuals attendantedd that meeting and we convened a three-member panel, a construction engineer, nicholas keen, a project manager with the department of public works and a list of the selection panel was provided to and approved by the contract monitoring division. on the submittal deadline, january 18, we received 13 proposals. by comparison we received six proposals for the same solicitation three years ago. i would like to personally thank and commend our panel members as it took a great deal of effort and diligence to review and score the submittal responses. most of the narrative proposals were over 100 pages in length. in addition, we held 11 oral interviews that lasted over two days, city staff volunteered to serve on evaluation panels in addition to the regular workload without any additional compensation and this evaluation process was a heavy lift and we want to thank the panelists for the hard work. the first step is for the compliance of the minimal complicatio

so pier et as i mentioned, it's the last pier, just east of treasure island. yerba buena island of the former bay bridge alignment. and the proposal there is rather than demolishing the pier all the way down to the mud line of the bay, as was in their original bcdc permit, caltrans has proposed and bckc has approved removing the upper portion of the pier and then constructing access from the shoreline out to the pier, as a public access improvement to bring people out on to the bay and give them a different experience along the shoreline. so this is where pier e2 is relative to the east end of the island and the new bay bridge. and this is some shots of the construction in progress. you can see they've already taken the pier down to the intended level and back to the shoreline they've cruxed it. -- constructed it. and planned view of how that will tie in with the proximity to the torpedo building and access back to north gate road. because caltrans needs to do some environmental work in the vicinity of area where the parking and bike racks are indicated, there

i am here wearing three hats, currently i am with brookfield working on the pier 70 project, but also i worked for mission bay as a project manager for eight years. during that time, karine it was chair of the citizens advisory committee. the third hat is i consider her to be a personal friend, that is probably the most important hat for me. she was one of those advocates that never quit fighting. never for what -- never just for what she thought was important, but important for the community itself. she held entities and staff a discussion -- decision-makers to task. when she raised an issue, when she called me, sometimes she would drive me up the wall, but i knew if she raised an issue, it was something that was well thought of and worth listening to and addressing. she did not shy away from change , as executive director mentioned. she understood change happens so she focused on directing that change to the benefit of the community. she knew her project approvals inside and out. i'm sure peter is having to deal with all the paperwork she has collected over the years as she got hers

we need to build a new pier to have water launch access and to continue our programs. as bob mentioned the lease is 66 years from commencement. we plan on raising at least $15 million to invest in this project. securing a long-term lease will allow us to plan, staff and fund this endeavor. i want to point out that our lease is really been carefully written to include not only milestones but checks and balances to make sure that the education of our youth and accessibility for our community are always a priority. we have stipulations for scholarships for youth as well as a volunteer rewards program to make sure that adults from any background can access sailing in the bay. we believe that we've shown the city that we're sustainable, non-profit organization that is true to its mission. in building a place where kids from all backgrounds can learn to grow together through sailing. so we ask for your approval for this long-term lease so we can continue to serve our community. i want to thank all of you for your time today and particularly supervisor haney and for getting u
