i'm rahel solomon at cnbc headquarters. wall street is set to open higher this morning. the markets are coming off a positive session on friday. the nasdaq closing at a new all-time high. on the watch list for investors, a report on personal income and spending. it's also the busiest week of earnings season. today we will hear from spotify and alphabet, the parent company of google. boeing ceo will face shareholders today after the two crashes that led to the grounding of the 737 max worldwide. it triggered a number of investigations and lawsuits and a drop in the stock. it is holding its annual meeting in chicago this morning. boeing is under pressure to deliver a software fix and new pilot training for the anti-stall system to convince regulators and the public that the aircraft is safe to fly again. and walmart firing the latest shot in the delivery wars. are he tail giant tweeting this weekend one-day free shipping without a membership fee. now, that would be ground breaking. stay tuned. that's after amazon disclosed it plans to invest $800 million on infrastructure

rahel solomon joins us now with the story. good morning >> reporter: good morning.amazon's latest attempt to position whole foods as more of a competitor to grocers like kroger and sprouts and perhaps nix that whole paycheck image they had the announcement was made on monday and the price decreases across the 480 whole foods stores went into effect this morning. so on average, about a 20% price decrease on 500 products mostly meat and produce products and the discounts here matter and here's why despite two previous cuts in prices, whole foods is still largely considered one of the more expensive places to shop. a recent analysis by morgan stanley ahead of today's repricing found a basket of 60 items from whole foods costs $198 that's 15% higher than a conventional grocery store at $172 that same basket pricing at kroger, $157 and even lower at sprouts, $155. now, as part of the deal, whole foods also announcing additional incentives for the 100 million prime members, but in twice as many items on sale for this group as before. and giving them an additional 10% off

disney's avengers smashing records at the weekend box office let's get straight over to rahel solomon with all the details. >> good morning. it was the biggest box office opening ever disney's avengers end game it took in $1.2 billion globally that is the first time a movie topped the billion dollar mark 90% of ticket sales went to "avengers. "endgame" was a smash overseas it took in a record of $859 million internationally. a lot of that came from china. the record-breaking numbers are huge for disfully. disney shares are in early trading a little bit heighter. courtney, again, a huge hit this weekend for disney we'll have to see how the next few weeks play out. >> that was highly anticipated it smashed through the records experts were expecting. >>> as we mentioned briefly at the stop of the show, futures are slightly higher. the dow jones industrials are higher take a look in at the treasury yield here as we gear up for the fed's two-day meeting beginning tomorrow as you can see here, the ten-year treasury note sitting here for the yield at 2.5 and change take a look at oil prices.
