contingent of people waiting for a bigger group of protesters who are marching right now they are on alvarado road headed toward the schools district. 1000 strong. day three of the strikes the teachers union pointing out it's not just them on the picket lines parents and students are joining them. all in an effort to get the attention of and keep the pressure on the superintendent. the strike has been going on since monday both sides are far apart and are now negotiating. the teachers of the highest paid in the county but since they pay their medical insurance out-of-pocket they say that it does not go far. the union asks for a 10% pay increase the district offers a one-time 3% bonus, a 1% raise and up to another possible 1% raise on top of that. depending on the state funding. both sides had a meeting with the third-party mediator and it looks like cooler heads have prevailed. >> this is about negotiations to get something that is a win- win. so we are hoping to continue the conversation and understand the signing. >> reporter: do you feel disrespected by the district? >> i do. i feel that t
