on treasure island. you are the type of entrepreneurs we want to support on the island. thank you very much. >> good afternoon. president tsen, directors of the treasure island development authority, i'm the executive director of the treasure island sailing centre. i want to thank you again for continued support of our programs. we're in full swing right now and have about 900 kids registered for our program for the summer. i was handed a copy of the proposed revisions to clipper cove rules and regulations late last week. which is on the consent agenda today. at first glance i noticed nothing unusual, but upon closer look at the language i realize that the ability to restrict the shoreline of yerba buena has been eliminated. the leaning of the revision does not give definition for times that would necessitate restrictions. while there may be times that access to the cove and shorelines need to be restricted, it's my opinion that some outlying definition should be adopted without some appropriate language

so as you're aware, treasure island is an island in the middle of the bay. there's a wastewater treatment plant out there, as well as other wastewater infrastructure which is ageing and well past its useful life. this is all old navy legacy infrastructure which is a challenge to maintain. however, the staff that works for the p.u.c. is doing an incredible job of maintaining it and moving forward. we currently have an m.o.u. with tida where s.f.u. has a contract on the wastewater, water, power, and gas. as i said, our staff is doing a great job going forward. we have problems, but we are quick to react and keep things going. in addition to the m.o.u. that i just mentioned for the current operations, we have another m.o.u. for the tida plant, supporting 300 new homes, and 200 acres of open space. phase one was started last year. it will include 2100 homes and be completed in about five years. the contract that we have with tida says that we're able to treat water for this new development and recycle water for the new development. the plant is -- the existing p

or how did the island endure this i just imagine 10 or 12000 visitors here on this really small island it was terrible it must be said it was the room between all the people that we just heard and passed the shops on through here shoulder to shoulder. you might see something nice and one of the shops he didn't stand a chance of getting to it to buy it was just pushed on ahead by the crowds and so you ended up back at the ship and at the sale home again and how come prices are so cheap on heligoland. that's a privilege we had from our time with britain and it's been preserved through all the changes and rules it was taken on in the treaties so we've always hotter judean tax free status here. it still exists but today the tourists come here for the nature. as it used to be when heligoland became a seaside resort in the early 19th century and 1st people came here for the good air it was the beginning of helical lands tourism. this island is so small you can easily walk around it and it just takes one or 2 hours hello go and it's pretty popular with tourists and we will show you why. henni
