cloud revenue, this is main part, this is the big kahuna for microsoft. cloud revenue, azure business 11.39 billion that ace revenue number. it was expected to be 11.03 billion. so they beat that number. not by a lot. just a little bit. returning 7.7 billion to shareholders and dividends. that is a big headline for microsoft. only trillion dollar company in the u.s. at this point, reporting very positive earnings announcement. as you saw we came into the earnings announcement, the president said he would be reviewing this this pentagon clough account given to amazon. linkedin, revenue rose 25%. i think that is pretty much due to my producer down here using it all the time. that is a big positive for the company. positive upbeat earnings for microsoft here. we'll see that after-hours pretty handily. melissa: services revenue rose 6%. that is another one we're talking about. gaming revenue fell 10% for the quarter. connell: erin gibbs jump in on this. one of the things for microsoft, in recent history, this wasn't always the case you about in recent history

this is the big kahuna for them, their azure business. cloud revenue responsible for a third of sales. this is what pushed revenue higher and has made the company have such great performance. gaming revenue for the company up 10%, linkedin revenue up 25%. they returned 7.7 billion to shareholders in share repurchases and dividends, and finally, quarterly, windows sales up 9%. this is important, because we had trouble with intel's inputs into pcs, their chips were not coming in as expected. that problem has been solved so you saw a gain there. also notable here, now, the stock as you showed is up here after the close. it had been down all day long. why? the president said he would ask the pentagon to reconsider a $10 billion cloud computing contract it's thinking of awarding to either microsoft or amazon or possibly both. companies like oracle are complaining about the awarding of this contract. so the shares were down all day on that news. but after hours, the shares soaring on good old-fashioned eps. back to you. kristina: we saw that li
