thanks to the scholarship of a friend, michael newton, who is also speaking today at another location, he is a scholar of alexander hamilton and has written not one but two books on hamilton. hamilton the formative years and discovering hamilton. what michael has been able to demonstrate with primary source -- evidencethat .9 is that 9/10 of the artillery were not at the battle of white plains. there is a nine out of 10 chance that hamilton was not there, and furthermore, neither henry knox, his commander, nor george washington mentioned hamilton or his unit by name. this we know for sure, hamilton's first full-fledged combat, not just shooting at two ships in the river, this is full combat. as the grandson of an artillery officer at guadalcanal, my grandfather was a marine, i can appreciate how traumatic this must've been. he was at rutgers. this was brunswick, new jersey. it was known as queens college. just like columbia was known as king's college. that is where hamilton was attending for a few years, and would have graduated from if war had not broken out. my wife graduated from

michael: it did get a lot of attention. they had a major sendoff at the white house. president wilson was in europe at the time, but secretary of war newton baker waved them off. there were speeches, the press was all there, and there was quite a scene at the white house. they went through the district through maryland through frederick, maryland, where they spent the first night. steve: walk us through the genesis of this idea and why 80 vehicles as part of this convoy? michael: you have to look at it in the context of the time. world war i had just concluded a few months earlier, and the american military leadership realized that in future warfare motorized vehicles would play a very important role. they had a number of different motorized vehicles, but they wanted to know how would they perform under different circumstances, could they drive up hill, across country. if it was necessary to move troops from one post to another, would they be able to do it, how long would it take? so they were interested in the conditions of the vehicles, which ones performed and which didn't. they were also interested in the condition of the roads. until

michael waltz is with us. lieutenant general richard newton is here and assistant vice chief of staff and former deputy commandinget's start with you general tata, the president saying -- bringing all sides to camp david. are you okay with that. >> i'm fine with it, brian. i don't think the parents of the next soldier killed in afghanistan are going to care if the president tried to reach a peace deal in camp david or in oman or wherever. they just want their soldiers home. and it's time for us to get out of afghanistan. we have been there 18 years. we have accomplished the mission that we were sent over to there to accomplish and that is to deny sanctuary to terrorists to conduct attacks against the united states. that was the original intent of the mission and i don't think it matters where that deal is reached or signed. and i think it's time to bring our troops home. brian: so the tariffs are going to leave when we leave? >> you know, brian, nobody gave, you know, two hoots when the president obama gave billions of dollars to iran, the number one state sponsor of terror and, you know, president trump has been
