the port of san francisco is a member of the california association of port authorities, which is comprised of the 11 publicly owned commercial seaports in the state. any changes to port tariffs are reviewed by the membership for consistent application of rules and regulations. with your approval today, we will notify the ports of the amendments to our tariffs. the port of san francisco tariff number 5 is a 90 page document posted online on the port's website. the tariff item changes we are proposing for your consideration are in section ten, item 1,000, bundled port fee for crews ships the proposal is to increase the passenger fee from $18 to $19, effective january 1st, 2020. this applies to all crews passengers in barking, disembarking, or in transit. the current passenger fee of $18 was established on january 1st , 2015, inch and -- in conjunction with the james r. herman crews terminal at. twenty-seven and has not been adjusted since then. the passenger fee is a bundled fee which includes passenger warpage, dockage for the first 24 hours, and stores warpage. before 24/7 . twenty-seven o

bargained salary increase that applies to mea employees to the port director. ou may know, just recently, the city completed the collective bargaining. we have a new three-year contract and the first year of that contract guarantees mea employees a three percent base wage increase on july one and then an additional one percent in december of this year. if the commission were to apply the contract increases to the executive director salary that would end increase the salary with the three percent cola in july. and then the additional one percent foz on december taken the salary to up a little over three zero 4000 dollars. this would be in compliance with the charter requirement that the port director salary not exceed amounts paid to directors in comparable maritime employee. - - - employment. however since the current port director salary is lower than the average salary of other seaport directors as well as lower than the average salary of comparable city department heads. the port commission may make a decision to increase the port director salary at a greater

we've negotiated a 50,000 dollar payment to the port. there is a monthly penalty for not completing the capital improvements. basically this 51,000 represents a portion of the time that the maritime improvements were completed. this would come off the top of the sales proceeds. that's in addition to the cell preservation. base rent will be adjusted to adjust actual rent paid, if they earn the extension. . also our consultants validated, even though as i mentioned earlier, the cost of these improvements have gone up to 737,000 dollars from what was previously estimated in the 500,000 dollar range. 10 years was still the appropriate time. we have not increased the extension term even though that information has changed. here is what we project as though rent revenues with the help of our third-party consultant. as you can see, compared to terminating the lease and putting out a new operation, the present value improved by 45 percent based on our proposed transaction and similar timeframe. we see a lot of financial benefit. this graph shows

for the port. i'm here to ask that the board award the final issuance of the clean and safe neighborhood parks bond. the 2012 bond included $34.5 million for funding for port parks. to date, we've participated in two of the bond sales and there is $3.1 million remaining in the bond, which the port intends to use to fund improvements at huron's head park and aquavista park. the 2012 bond has funded construction and improvement to six port parks, including construction of the plaza outside the pier 27 cruise ship terminal and [inaudible] narc -- park in dog patch which is currently under construction. to date, the port has appropriated $31.8 million in 2012 parks bond proceeds, which includes $331,000 in interest earnings. this bond sale will allocate $1.7 million to aquavista and $1.2 million to heron's head with approximately $189,000 allocated to cost of issuance. the port is expecting to spend all of the remaining parks bond funds, including this appropriation by june of 2021. funding for heron's

deep water ports of savannah and brunswick in georgia. annually, then some 37 million short tons of container cargo. savannah, it is the third largest gateway port in the u.s. its garden city terminal is the largest single container terminal in the western hemisphere while brunswick brought in 600,000 automobiles last year alone. griff lynch is executive director of the georgia ports authority. what's going on right now? i'm sure you're waiting on this thing but what did it take to lock down the ports? >> well, thank you for the call. first of all, following the lead of the governor and his staff, they made the right decision to shut the ports down yesterday to ensure safety of life and get all the folks that live on the island out and get them west of the storm. basically, we had 30 ship-to-shore cranes, these massive cranes that go along two miles of dock. we have 156 pieces of yard equipment that are very, very large. our team takes about five or six hours to tie all those down and secure them and make them ready for high winds, should we face that.
