[ applause ] >> like you i'm a giant fan of garry shandling. three years it's been since he passed away. >> yes, yes. >> amazing. starred in "the larry sanders show." gave you one of the first breaks. what is your favorite personal memory of garry and why did you feel like you needed to share it with everybody. >> we had a psychic on the larry sanders show like a guest and the psychic said to me you're going to direct soon and then like two weeks later garry walked in my office and said you're directing the next one and that was the big break of my career was garry asking me to direct the show. so believe in psychics. >> i don't know about that advice. [ applause ] so an amazing mentor and friend awe put the book together and came across all these -- it's sort of like a scrapbook and came across this stuff in kind of a cool way. >> well, after he passed, you know, we had to go through all of his things and i thought he wasn't sentimental and didn't
