city hall. what's happening so far, sarah? >> reporter: good morning. we've seen a handful, people come to this tent behind us at city hall in front of the steps here to drop off their ballots. they make it pretty easy for people registered to vote in san francisco. you can drive by, you can drop off your ballot there and your vote is in. this district is one a lot of people are watching very carefully, after district attorney resigned last month, and a week later, the mayor appointed interim district attorney. that caused frustration among other candidates. the former prosecutor in san francisco's da's office up against deputy's public defender,ers, and they say it's an unfair advantage. they responded to the backlash, the mayor responded someone other than loftus is reported, they'll work on a transition plan. we reached out to all four candidates to speak with them and we met up this morning and asked what happens if he's elected? >> reporter: after the homelessness crisis, making sure law enforcement has held accountable, accountability has really been the theme for us. >> reporter: we also spoke to boudin w

kris sanchez is live for us at city hall and kris, talk to us about what this money is for. >> reporter, marcus. they can use this money for outreach, for education, but also for physical improvements to make streets a little bit safer for bikers and pedestrians. i want to show you the reason why. here are some numbers here on your screen and so far this year, 16 pedestrians have died in traffic crashes on san jose city streets, six bicycleists have been killed. last year 24 pedestrians were hit and killed on city streets, 16 pedestrians died on the streets the year before in 2017. you'll always hear san jose police and city leaders say even one death is too many. this was just one of the deadly pedestrian crashes that we responded to in san jose so far this year. in this location a woman was hit and killed an santa clara street near tenth street. she was the third pedestrian killed for the year. often the times in deadly crashes are elderly folks, so with this $100,000 grant from the state office of traffic safety the city transportation department will do education and outreach for wa

us this coming november 20. it's going to be a city event. we have a march from city hall to u.c. hastings, where we held it last year, as well. it's going to be at 5:30 to 6:00 for the march and a celebration at 6:00 at u.c. hastings. and i would like to invite folks to come to our annual trans giving event. i think it's official that san francisco was the very first city that had a drop-in center for the transgender community, and that was trans pride, so that was trans at that time. and we do this wonderful brunch for our community on thanksgiving day itself from 11:00 to 2:00, and we'd love to see folks who could like to serve or like to help out or just, you know, talk with all the clients that we have at trans tribe. i'd like to also mention the trans pride board is here, who we just brought somebody new on board, our president, carol and anjalie. we're going to rock s.f. pride and make sure we are there, so everybody, thank you so much.
