in 2014 they began a project to ask residents to reflect what the bucan ma mall means to them. this collaboration with the studio for public spaces and partner trust for public land, there was a collaboration that resulted in some temporary gardens and gateways. the community activated these temporary installations with events and celebrations and at those gatherings over the course of a couple years, people were informed about envisioning and invited to participate in a series of meetings and events. it was a robust process that went to the vision plan. then in 2019, having clear goal the vision plan, rec and park began the formal concept design process looks at the buchanan street mall as a whole. with community events and presentations and over 1,000 surveys conducted. the goals were to connect the blocks, have social exchange and engagement and interaction and gardens and play and recreation. the communities invested a lot of time and resources to get to this point and are really looking forward to capital investment in their neighborhood. i have been talking about backgrou
