within a few months of that sea lions began gathering at pier 39. now i've never heard a theory as to how those two events are related. but i have heard theories as to why they stay there. one it's a protected harbor and another there's ample supply of herring and there's a love of having their pictures taken and another is that pier 39 gave them dock space to reside them. they're looking to celebrate 30 years of sea lions arriving and they're looking to do that this january. as part of that, they would like to do 30 sea lion sculptures throughout the city. most of these being on port property or we're excited to say and that's what the proposal today here is to request your approval the fee waiver for this installation. 30 sea lions, they are six feet tall. they are three foot six. they are not bolted down. they're filled with sand on bottom. they would be distributed along the length of port property allowing people to see them travel from one end to the other. a couple at bay view gateway. you can see the other and along the northern waterfront a

that's what the sea lions do as well here are 6 of them showing off just skills. but they are primarily here for research purposes the keris have to make sure that the wild animals are obeying their commands so that researchers can get close without being in danger and put your bottom oh yes we can observe the behavior and physiology of the sea lions here much better than the nature. the shock researchers on the california coast for example don't have permanent access city animals and. if they want to see it is it i hope that i don't. i am heading back to the aquarium . you have a big monterey coming close to every single visit dive else sometimes wait for the whole life for that's and you know every single visitor has what's made a diversity seeking for yes and yes so that's also the magic of that's bringing that kind of experience to the whole and well being of the. old. what impressed me the most here is this huge thing i never thought i'd get such a good impression of life on the water i think it's so fascinating that i could just watch for hours in the woods.
