a proposed refunding of revenue bonds for the port of san francisco. the port is proposing to refinance nearly $30 million in outstanding 2010 revenue bonds. we are requesting authority to issue up to $27 million in new bonds, but expect to only issue a little over $24 million. we estimate that this refinancing will realize nearly $12 million of savings, with a net present value of $9.4 million. the bond's maturity date would remain the same. these savings will have no impact on the general fund. the savings will accrue to the harbor fund. the port issued $36.65 million in revenue bonds in 2010 to support construction of the cruise ship terminal and to perform capital improvements on several piers. the 2010 bonds included two different series which reflected the mix of public and private capital improvements that the bonds funded. the taxable series matures in 2030 and the tax-exempt series matures in 2040. the bonds were issued with an option to be redeemed at the port commission's sole discretion as of march 1, 2020. the port is currently paying $2.8

[applause] >> thank you for braveing weather to be here to join us. it's been my great fortune to work at pier 39 for the past 41 years and i remember the dark days that followed the october 1989 earthquake. visitor traffic on the pier dried up to a trickle in the months following the quake, and they were quite bleak. i remember dan rather leading the evening news for what seemed like weeks on end with images of the collapsed bay bridge and freeway. he certainly did not help the city's recovery efforts. by january the city was busy rebuilding but visitors continued to stay away. it was at this time the pier began receiving complaints about a small group of sea lions. the number of sea lions grew quickly and pier 39 realized it had a real problem on its hands. after conferring with regulators and experts who advised they were federally protected animals a decision was made to relocate the boat owners and let the sea lions continue to use the dock with the
