comingng detroit is back, bernadette. one thing you should know, if you go to my neighborhoods, they're not coming back from whatever the heck the folks are saying they're coming back from. poverty among children has increased in the city of detroit. you see neighborhood after neighborhood that has been left behind. when they say coming back, they're talking about the 7.2 miles, some of the wealthiest tracks in the city of detroit, talking about billionaires that continue to take tax giveaways from our school aid fun while literally down the street for the hockey stadium, for the for-profit development, while down the street we have schools that don't have clean drinking water. we have schools that are literally closing down, neighborhood schools that have been anchors in our neighborhood. it is hard because i had had a senior citizen tell me detroit is coming back from where? why are they continually talking about only the downtown area and surroundingg areas? it is like an island. anything beyond that island is real tru

host: let's talk to bernadette calling from las cruces, new mexico. good morning.aller: good morning. listen, i am not a fan of contact sports at all. i will tell you one thing. college kids,e the college football players at new mexico state university are exploited. by that i mean, they are being by being thrown into the arena with a college, a pro college football on their way over there. they are like sacrificial lambs. the ones that come out making the money are the coaches. we wind up paying the mortgage for one of these coaches. a lot of kids from new mexico do not get to play. all of the students are recruited from other areas and so, they are exploited. some kids need a second helping so they can eat, so they don't go hungry here. they have taken money from academics to give to the athletic program. they never pay it back. you know, i do not like exploitation of any kind. the students have been exploited. it is all of these investments that they come in and they give money under the table, and get a lot of these kids do not even finish college. they are not
