darren peck has more on whether there's any hope of any kind of rain in the forecast. >> i think it's a timely story now, liz, because that tells us the position that we find ourselves in now and looking forward the next week and a half, looks dry. really going towards the end of february, there's not much hope here. what we saw today was kind of interesting. that's a good batch of the low clouds, the marine layer that builds in along the coast. can happen at any point in the year, but it typically happens in the summer. it was really right along the coastline and bay this morning. tomorrow we wake up again with the low clouds that cover much of the bay area. and that will, it certainly adds a mood, but it will keep the temperatures pretty much similar to today. speaking of which, low to mid-50s out there, and the comparison, look how much colder we are than yesterday because of this change. anywhere from 4 to 14 degrees cooler than yesterday thanks to the on shore flow. the low clouds getting pulled back on shore again tomorrow morning. expected the gray sky for your morning commute

. >> let's get over right away to darren peck. it is foggy out there driving in from the north bay i was creeping along. >> from the south also. >> you are perfect examples because one came from the north and want to get in from the south. if we just have somebody from the east bay would have it all covered because it is foggy out there also. the one place that is not is our camera here on treasure island looking back towards the bay bridge. we are not dealing with much fog that when i put the currents up, take a look at the little sign next to the number. livermore 21 degrees, but it's also foggy. and you can see that in the report coming in from the weather station. santa rosa, it's a cold 39 and also foggy. in fact if we look at the visibility map when we come in for a close-up of the south bay, see that patch of great extending all the way up say 101 and working as a way through the east bay and the numbers get downright local in the north bay. where it says one quarter for santa rosa and petaluma that tell you how far down th

. >>> and back here in the bay area, darren peck has the forecast. >> if you look at the scene from the top of the sales force tower it's classic summer. low gray clouds for the bay area, but over the hill it's sunny. if you get inland, perfectly clear skies. >> it happens a lot actually. confined to summer. it doesn't typically happen like this throughout the course of winter. and the way we cooled down today was very much like a summer pattern. so let's behind that view, and now i'll show you what it looks like over the tri-valley. clear skies. and we'll put numbers there. livermore is the closest actual location to this camera. it's 57 degrees over there right now. san francisco at 52, santa rosa at 54. so looking at the eggs tent of the clouds, the futurecast can pick up on them, they're along the coastline into the bay, they'll pour back over most of us tomorrow morning. so we wake up friday, and it's cloudy again. low gray for just about everybody. but here's what's different. by the middle of the day tomorrow, all those clouds are going to erode and evaporate away. those are high

do not expect them to die down soon, darren peck joining us live with more on this rswill b of us will noti breezy day. let's go straight to the map with the areas colored in blue and show you whwind advisory goes into effect as early as 7:00 tonight. a little ere less thathn two ho from now. that applies mainly to the mountains and the north bay. if you look at the map here, everywhere in blue, the mountains and up towards the coast that is when the wind advisory begins. look at petaluma, napa, not even included in the wind advisory. doesn't mean it will get windy but a be the focus for where we all live is tomorrow afternoon? look at the city, see how we are included in the light blue and then down the coast? wind advisory focused mainly on tomorrow afternoon for these locations. but, oakland, hayward d fremont are not included. it gets breezy tomorrow afternoon but not as bad as in places like concord, walnut creek, pleasanton and livermore. if you are east of the hills, that is where the geske's will be noticeably stronger tomorrow afternoon. rain -40 miles an hour . san jose will

darren peck is in the weather center peer darren, it was definitely a lot chillier this morning. >> yes it was. you can see part of that change that shows up when you take a look at the live view for camera, this, looking off toward the west and sure enough, it almost looks like a summer pattern here, where you pulled in the blanket that is the low clouds and the marine layer, not only looking west, but also looking east across the bay bridge and if we go to our camera that sits on treasure island, you see there's plenty. these numbers went so far down, that they actually went down to average. this is where we should've been all along. and many of these numbers, or at least some of them, are 20 degrees colder than we were just two days ago. so, that is why it felt cool out there this morning and if you look at the difference, here's the 24 hour change, how much cooler are we right now than we were yesterday at this time? santa rosa, 16 degrees cooler. 14 degrees cooler in palo alto. and we are able to see those clouds showing up in the forecast model. here's the future cast. it picks up

darren peck is joining us now. >>> one of the best ways to prepare ourselves for why we are not out of this nor no rain business to take a look at the forecast map for the next week and a half. i'm going to start filling the senate with colors to show where it is going to rain from now for the next 12 days. look at the big dome doughnut hole. the rest of the country is getting rain except for california. as we come in for a close the blood. that says saturday, february 22. not this coming saturday. but next saturday. for the next week and a half there is a big white spot on the map. only for california. climate prediction center which puts out the long-range forecast for how we are likely to do is a big brown the bull's- eye over california taking us out for the next 8 to 14 days. with the seven-day ends this forecast picks up. there is a high degree of confidence we will state rain free for the next week and a half or longer. i will be back with more coming up. >>> this looks like something out of a superhero movie. they call it a bowler wrap. you soon see a bay area police officer us

. >>> all right, meteorologist darren peck is here now with a change in the weather. >> going to get> really? >> that's the main thing that stands out, spieshl in the mornings as we get into early next week. what i want to start off with is wind because that's what's going to drive this change in. first things first, first day of february turned out really nice for us. 7 degrees above average for this time of year. that means the numbers came into the mid and upper 60s for daytime highs. that was today. tomorrow on the second day of february, nothing like that. these temperatures will come down about 10 degrees tomorrow for the daytime highs. you'll have to factor in a wind- chill factor as well. it's going to feel different tomorrow as well, but i want to jump ahead to morning lows. not so much tomorrow morning th lday. where we're going to b for sunday. now i'm going toance thi ahd into monday and as youtake deeper shades of blue and many more temperatures in the 30s, some in the low 30s. degre on the north bay. it'll be 36 in san jose, mid- 30s inland. so that's change number one.

. >> darren peck is joining us with whether. you were saying earlier we were going to get close to 80 i was thinking, this is not like february. >> the 80s do not come until about wednesday of this coming week and it will be for some selected inland spots but still technically near 80 the month of february. however, today will feel a lot like yesterday. in fact it will feel cooler than yesterday for some of us but still pretty warm. what's going on out there. the cameras from the top of the sales force show was we had a mixed bag for clouds. in the south bay, east bay or in the heart of the bait you are waking up to clouds. that is what it looks like over the tri-valley this morning. waking up to clouds but if you're in the north bay you have clear skies and that has allowed temperatures to drop quite a bit. you can see some of the local trying to get in to the golden gate. that is a sign of a subtle onshore floor that will slow cool us down. santa rosa sticks out like a sore thumb right now. 38 degrees for the sheltered valleys

. >> let's go over to darren peck. >> that's camera on top of sales force tower towards the east: but it's the number on the top line that will grab most pool's attention. it's the peak gust so far not mountains. we hit the north bay. but as far as where you live, look at the rest of the numbers. santa rosa hill 33-mile-an-hour gust within the last hour. and concord at 35. and san francisco hit 28. we are seeing similar numbers to that in the east bay for places like oakland though not as strong there and san jose seeing this at 14 miles per hour. as we look at the map as a whole, these are the current wind speeds. that's what the sustained number is. so it's 15 sustained in hayward. 13 in oakland. 6 in san jose. now the gusts as the winds pick up in intensity. ever so often, hayward hit 23. and concord at 37. and there's livermore at 3 # 2. all right. as you probably expect the wind advisory in effect doesn't expire until 11 a.m. on monday. but the worst of the winds will come through the afternoon for most of us. i am going to spotlight that in more detail in the complete forecast b
