ktvu cristina rendon is live on the scene talking about the fire investigation. i know you have been trying to get more information . >> reporter: good morning, pam. we have learned this is now a fatal fire on malta court. the battalion chief updated us a few minutes ago and said initially they thought there were only two people inside but they have done more investigation going through the home and found one man that died as a result of the fire. it was a very intense fire from what we understand. when we rolled up just after 4:15 the flames were shooting up into the sky. this is on malta court near the bernhardt drive in oakland. we understand it all started around 4:12 in the morning when fire crews were called out for the two alarm fire. it was a large fire response and the neighbors said they tried to bang on the doors nearby to get the people out of their homes. they also warned people on what was going on inside. we spoke with the person inside that said at least four people live in the home. he was worried that one of his friends that lived there did not

cristina rendon with ktvu fox 2 news. >> santa clara supervisor say they made progress when it comes to investigating sexual assault cases. it comes down to clearing a backlog of rape kits in the lab from several years ago. allie rasmus explains how they were able to do and the plan to continue the progress moving forward. >> reporter: it takes the santa clara county crime lab 16 days to process evidence in rape and sexual assault investigations. leaders say compared to two years ago when it used to take more than three months to test a sexual assault response team kit, sometimes known as a rape kit. wire these kits important? the reason , once they are sexually assaulted, they submit themselves to become evidence. when someone reports being a victim of rape or sexual assault, they go through a physical exam, dna and other physical evidence collected to lead police to the perpetrator. two years ago, santa clara county had a backlog of 270 untested kits. county leaders decided to tackle the problem and gave the district attorneys office the money to do it. >> $600,000 to be able to hi

ktvu's cristina rendon live in the city. one of the victims speaking up?> reporter: we can tell you one of those victims is an uber driver who chose to fight back when his car was surrounded here at the corner of harrison and ninth street in the city. the attempted carjacking happened around 2: 30this morning. uber driver reported is police were nearby on a different call. he said he was turning from harrison to ninth street when three people came running around the corner and try to force their way inside. >> one got in the backseat, one was trying to get in the driver seat with a gun, pointing at me, and i just kept whacking at the barrel and not letting him, and he kept trying to open my door. he tried to yank me out. i just kept fighting him the whole time, right? it was turning crazy. having a gun pointed in your face, but you are not taking my car. >> reporter: that man was able to drive away unharmed. san francisco police say there was another attempt carjacking five minutes later also on harrison, and a third about half an hour later at mission. th

ktvu fox 2 news's cristina rendon live in antioch to bring us more. >> good morning.amily and friends are just heartbroken over the loss of a teenager killed in a senseless tragedy over the weekend. he's been identified as 16-year-old jonathan parker. this morning groups of teenagers have been gathering at a small memorial in the parking lot of the high school. now that the school day is underway, we have seen plenty of students coming and going to that memorial site that has been growing since over the weekend. we understand that on friday night there was a basketball game that was letting out here at deer valley between deer valley and antioch high school. a group of teenagers got into a fight and that's when shots were fired. parker was shot three times and he later died at a hospital. his friends are remembering him as well as his family. his family says he was a kind young man. he wanted to become an engineer. this morning we spoke to a student who came by to drop off some flowers. he said he's praying for parker's family. >> just sad knowing that it happened to

christina rendon has more. >> reporter: grief counselors will be on hand for staff. it's a senseless tragedy that happened after a basketball game. police say they found a boy critically injured in the parking lot friday night. he was shot three times following the fight that broke out between teenagers after a basketball game between deer valley and antioch high school. the boy later died at the hospital. last night, friends and family members of the 11th greater gathered here at the school in front of a small memorial. they're remembering him as a kind young man who wanted to become an engineer, the relatives who didn't want to be identified says her nephew was an amazing person. >> it's horrible. my sister lost a baby. i watched my sister, my baby sister watch her son take his last breath. this is not okay. where was security at? this is a high school. >> these are young kids. like they shouldn't have to fear coming to a basketball game, coming to a dance. >> reporter: the principal and superintendent are calling on the community to help with the incident. our chi
