is what tallahassee will do to you. probably sacramento has the same effect. he was a vietnam war hero, he was an environmentalist, progressive, military hero, got elected governor and goes to tallahassee and surrounded by ruling thieves everywhere, the corruption incredible and he just couldn't take it and ran out and went crazy. that is a good hermit guy for my guys run into, resting up a possum and got off of 109, just put it on the spit, why not? a harmless little scene, a warm and fuzzy atmosphere to it so anyway his character goes by the name of skiing. in that little section of the book he also start saying and doing things i always fantasized about saying and doing and gets more and more interesting so i keep him around and he becomes the moral engine of that strange little novel and propels everything else that is going on. a perfect example, i had been stuck in an outline, he wouldn't have been able to do that and he appeared in several novels in different ways since then. he was one of the characters i cared
