here with the truth about testing cnn's drew griffin. drew, good evening to you. thanks for joining us once again this evening. last night we talked about how the administration was boasting about testing even though it had promised millions of tests weeks ago. now the president saying more than 1 million americans have been test it hed. is it enough? >> it's not. these numbers really don't mean anything anymore when you're talking about big numbers of testing. the fact of the matter is people who need and want to get tests aren't getting tested. we're still rationing tests. we still don't have the supplies. just listen to the politicians today who are talking about the lack of testing in their areas still. >> we're all continuing to struggle with testing, testing supplies, and also procuring ppe, and that's a pretty regular refrain that all of the governors have when we talk to each other and when we talk to the president. at this point there just isn't enough out there. >> no one anywhere in the country has access to enough tests. if you look at us on a per capi

so, in drew griffin's report that ran just before the break just moments ago, he said it's not just a it's also the shortage of the components needed to actually perform those tests that makes it even more challenging. >> that's right. so, 100% of the nations that have successfully tackled this pandemic have done so in the same way. they've done it with aggressive early testing. they've done it with identifying the people that came in contact with those with the disease, tracing them, isolating them, and adopting quarantine policies. everyone else is in the boat where we are adopting really broad based social distancing policies, shutting down public transit, public events, schools, things of that nature and doing our best to have our health systems prepared to search safely. there may be parts of the united states in the first category where we can do really aggressive testing and isolating, but there are definitely clusters of cases that are going to fall in that second category. what we know about countries that fall in that second category, if this spreads widespread, the results

jennifer griffin has that story and she reports light from the pentagon with more on this, jennifer.is is unprecedented. the u.s. navy only has three deployed aircraft carriers at sea right now. only today, we learned one of them has an outbreak of coronavirus forcing it to a halt operation and head into port in the pacific. the acting navy secretary thomas mobley told reporters thursday morning the u.s. theodore roosevelt would be heading into port in guam as soon as possible in order for all 5,000 sailors and pilots on board to be tested for coronavirus. among the first to report that 24 sailors on board the massive worship have tested positive and triple the number from two days ago. >> i know the small ships don't have the ability to test on board. but it is my understanding on the larger ships, we do have the ability to do the testing on board. >> limited to, so are you short of test swabs on board something like that tr roosevelt? >> tr has approximately 800 kids on board and we are flying more on board as we speak so we will have more to help solve this problem. >> the rooseve
