we're going to turn to mark meredith standing by at the white house. mark. >> good afternoon, the white house briefing delayed 30 minutes and expecting to get an update on several months, but one of the things we're expecting to hear a lot more about is the testing of the coronavirus and how that's being rolled out all over the country and also the need for the federal government to collect more medical skies that the hospitals need. as we heard in the last hour of neil cavuto's show, the governor of new york says there's a need for ventilators and what they can do to work with companies that are private and allow factories to produce whatever supplies may be needed. meantime, here at the white house we learned overnight that a staff, member of the vice-president did test positive for the coronavirus, that person is not believed to have had any close contact with the president nor the vice-president. we've seen a number of states also enact those restrictions and not to leave home unless it's essential. now many are wondering what could happen with the

fox news' mark meredith inside the briefing room right now for us. , give us a sense of how unusual that was and the reaction of the press corps as that happened and then person wasn't let in. >> reporter: well, the news just happened as we were about to go on the air, in fact, we've seen members of the staff outside trying to speak with the press. we do not know who that person was who was not allowed in because we've been stationed right here. but about a half hour ago we saw a member of the white house press team as well as a member of the white house medical office come down to where the fox news booth is, where cnn, associated press, where all the networks are and take temperatures with a remote thermometer. it was not like it was -- it didn't feel like a panic situation by any stretch of the imagination. we were told it was done out of an abundance of caution. you know, the president was asked yesterday whether or not he was going to be getting tested. he had indicated it was possible he could do it, but then overnight we got a statement from th

we're going to head now to the north lawn where mark meredith is standing by with a little bit more of what we've learned about how monday might look over this weekend. hi, mark. >> reporter: good afternoon. the president is backing off on the idea of a quern teen. there had -- quarantine. there had been political pressures from some of the governors saying this is not what they wanted to see. we have seen the president working with the governors to declare the disaster states all over the country. since we last spoke, additional states including georgia, oregon and connecticut have been approved. those are the states where we've seen disaster declarations approved by the white house. the governors are saying they need more help from the federal government especially as they try to get medical supplies. they've been competing with each ownership to get the supplies. as for the president, we've seen him on twitter active this morning, he tweeted we'll be doing a press conference today at 5:00 p.m. here at the white house, people are working harder than i've ever seen people work. it is
