mr. mccarthy: good afternoon. as a four, a husband and a son, my first responsibility is to protect the health, the safety and the security of those who i represent. for anyone who is affected with this virus, whether you lost a loved one, maybe you're battling it, maybe you lost your job, what i want to say is we're working for you. that's why i'm glad the senate has come to an agreement an they need to act. they need to act now. for over a week, house republicans have worked with our colleagues in the senate to put together a really bold relief package in this time of crisis. unlike the financial crisis, this is not a result of fraudulent or irresponsible business practices. this is really a black swan event, i will say. we'll do whatever we need for the american family, the worker and the small business until we're on the other side of. this this legislation will be an incredible help for the few main things it provides. first it provides resources for hospitals that are run logue and need liquidity and need he

mr. mccarthy: i'm not sure. we have members on both sides who have the virus, members who are quarantined, members who have challenges with aims, getting their flights canceled. i think there'll be enough to make sure we get this through but the floor will look different. the microphones down in the well will not be there. they should not be that close to those, the clerks who work there the microphone in the middle will be taken out so what you'll have is those who aring moring the bill will be further away. members can't sit next to each other and as one person speaks you're going to have to come back and clean. so if a member wants to come on the floor they can't sit next to each other but can be moving in and out, they'll enter in one door and have to leave in another. we want to make schauer we're providing health for everybody else in -- everybody else inside to make sure government is working. there'll be more than enough. there's nrn enough time to debate. there's more than enough time to review the bill

mr. mccarthy: all right. let's begin. when house members depart this week, the american people could feel better about the fact we are now one step closer to delivering on the funds needed to put america's health first. i wish we were able to do this last week but this straightforward emergency coronavirus funding bill passed the house overwhelmingly yesterday and speed up the development of vaccines, increased access to testing, treatment, and will expand access to telemedicine to make it easier to see their doctors remotely. this is very good news but also a reprieve that was unnecessarily delayed. since it became clear that coronavirus was becoming more serious, i had urged our colleagues to leave politics out of the national discussion. that's the exact approach we took when we controlled in congress and president obama was in and we had ebola crisis and this is the same approach we're taking now. unfortunately, on the democratic side, we were not able to pass it last week. they control the floor. it gave the dccc to
