in fact, alvin asked me about it on twitter.oes he have to pay his taxes by the april 10th deadline. the answer varies by county. let's start in san mateo. the treasurer there just issued this letter saying san mateo is pushing back the deadline from april 10th to may 4th. that's the first day after the current stay-at-home order is set to expire. san francisco has done the same. the treasurer there says property taxes in the city are now due may 4th. but the bay area's remaining counties appear to be sticking to the friday deadline. some say they are unable to legally push back the due date though they are offering a selective break. the treasurer in alameda, contra costa, marin, solano counties indicated taxpayers directly affected by covid-19 can apply for penalty waivers or penalty cancellations. those are the counties in yellow. you would do that after april 10th. if you're curious about your coun county's due date we posted all nine policies plus links to their website in case policies and deadlines change. it's on nbcbaya
