in part, is that there is such massive damage done throughout the city, particularly downtown along broadway. from here at 14th where i amnear city hall all the way up to about 30 is street, and that is where we have seen the major damage done last night. let's take a look at the video of the demonstrations in progress. i hesitate to call the mall demonstrations because it all started peacefully around 7:00 last night. after a few hours there was a group in this larger group that seemed determined to turn this into a riot, and to start doing damage. they were lighting fires all over the place, broke into the car dealership lighting fires, and breaking into the target. the looting, it's hard to quantify it at this point. it seemed like a free-for-all. there were some officers in some of the locations but most were just stepping back trying to avoid confrontation with the protesters. a lot of the protesters were armed with whatever they could find to work on their looting, and also to arm themselves against the police. several police officers were injured by objects being thrown at them. they did detain 60 looters. they ma
