yvonne: john, you know, we keep hearing from mike pompeo, the u.s. secretary of state, it seems like he's easing off the earlier claims that there was emors now -- enormous evidence that the virus escaped a lab in wuhan but we continue to see a war of words between beijing and d.c. where do things stand right now? john: pompeo, i think, overnight sort of slightly backed off the wuhan lab rhetoric. it's obviously something that beijing finds very upsetting. i think as much as trump would like to not be blamed for what's happened with the pandemic in the u.s., the chinese are just as interested in not being blamed for the pandemic globally. and i think -- even beyond the u.s., the u.s. has been more aggressive in its pursuit of chinese responsibility. even beyond that, you see the e.u. and australia, even the w.h.o. talking about the need to have a greater understanding, more of an investigation into how the pandemic started so we can learn some lessons that might help us avoid this happening next time. tom: thank you very much. more grim macro data. p
