companies that have various meat processing plants in northwest arkansas, cargill, tyson foods and georgia's inc foods tested employees at all of their facilities in northwest arkansas, ten different facilities. they say out of nearly 4,000 employees, 13% tested positive for covid-19, and 95% of those positive cases were asymptomatic. they're taking steps across the board to prevent the spread of covid-19 from plastic dividers to giving employees face masks and requiring that they wear them, also giving some of them plastic face masks for extra protection. they say they've put people in gathering areas to remind workers to social distance, but workers we have spoken to say thisit is not enough because covid-19 is only here. the only way to truly stop the spread is by closing down the plants temporarily. those workers also tell us it is not just tyson foods. they say all the poultry plants in this area need to do more. we spoke to one woman who asked us not to show her face, she's scared she could lose her job by talking to us. one of her relatives worked at a poultry plant in northwest arkansas.
