our correspondent terry scholz sent us this assessment of the protests from brussels the scene of one of the major anti-racism demonstrations in europe many thousands of people turned out here in brussels today people of all races all it's in this it is all colors all ages many people carried signs saying i can't breathe the dying words of george floyd in the united states there were children carrying signs saying i want to grow up in a world without racism activists hope that the broad support shown by the city of brussels and by the citizens of all communities may just be enough pressure to address the issues that they believe have to change that there is an issue of police brutality in belgium but the small protests that come for example after the killing of a 19 year old man in april in a police chase certainly have not shown the very broad turnout of this march here today it remains to be seen whether authorities will feel the pressure of this very large turnout whether they will sit down with activists and address the things they need they say need to be changed and how soon. so
