kamau bell.od to see you. >> i wish to be there. >> i look forward to the day we can see you in person. tell us about what -- i mean, it's a perfect time for your show because you have long been looking at all of these issues of racism and systemic racism and white supremacy so where are you now? >> i think this in many ways is a sequel to when i met with the kkk and before the civil unrest we should look again at white supremacy but take a much deeper look and really get more instructive about what the white supremacy is. a lot of times we get caught up in white supremacists, the neo-nazis and the kkk, but we want to talk about the structure and the system of white supremacy. which means the majority of presidents have been white men. >> kamau, we have talked about how racism -- it's not just about the folks in the white suits, right? that you have it just below the surface or not even that far below the surface. i want to play some comments from president trump yesterday regarding the fair hous

kamau, you explored white supremacy in your very first episode of this.years ago and now this is extended season premier of the show all of which was planned here in the united states. what more did you want to some more? >> well, i think when you look at that first elpisode, i was nw to the show and to cnn and to doing the work and looking at white supremacy like this. it goes deeper than just the kkk and neo-nazis. so this episode at this point in american is really important. we need to focus on the structure of white supremacy. >> the president was asked about his statements, he said statements earlier in the week where both black lives matter and the confederate flag are both issues of freedom of speech. i want you to listen to this. listen to what em. >> is the confederate flag offensive? >> it depends on who you're talking about, when you're talking about. when people probably had their confederate flags, they're not talking about racism. they love the flag. they love the south. i say it is freedom of many things. but it is freedom of speech. >> so

kamau bell.d expect in this new season, kamau. >> first of all, i can't start without saying that was my mom, everybody. that's my mom. she's in the episode. it's really a very thorough, i think, and clear description of what white supremacy is with a lot of examples because i think a lot of times in america we get caught up in the white supremacy is just the klan or the neonazis. white supremacy is 44 out of 45 white men in a land that was originally 100% native american. >> you got very personal there with the advice you were getting when you were a young kid as opposed to when you got a little bit older. >> yeah, i mean, my mom was aware. she's born in 1937. she's 83 years old despite how she looks on camera. and she was -- she came through a lot of america's most notorious racism, civil rights movement and jim crow laws and things like that. she wanted me to know how i needed to conduct myself in the world because i was a black boy. >> we're looking so forward to this fifth season. thank you
