we had two spin up in brunswick county into areas of carolina. around myrtle beach a surge of three to four feet above the normal tide. notice all of the rainfall, south and north carolina, the rumors are high and they will see four to eight. all of the rain out to the west is a cold front, anderson. as that makes it way towards the east coast, isaias and the cold front will merge and create a problem as we get into the big cities. my fear is that some of the heavy rainfall could lead to evacuations overnight and even water rescues. we have for the first time since 1960 watches and warnings from florida to canada. the heavy rainfall even picks up around areas of virginia, washington d.c., six, seven, eight, ten inches of rain and then it picks up. this will be the concern later on tomorrow afternoon. >> isaias is expected to move up the northeast coast and i am not sure what it will become and how quickly. what should the major metro areas anticipate? >> the good news as far as the surge goes in areas of long island and coastal rhode island this

in some of the southern coastal counties, including brunswick, new hanover.xpecting possibly hurricane force winds on the carolina coast line. and the bigger issue could be the six to 8 inches of rain that has been predicted. three to 5 feet. this is an area that had seen his share of storms, including dorian, which slammed over the island last week. nonessential personnel. but neil, the storm, if it does strike as meteorologists have predicted, hearing about the island chain. the bahamas, which have strong winds and heavy rains. took down power lands in puerto rico and the dominican republic as well. there were some high water rescues carried out by the national guard there. and that is the kind of stuff that north carolina's governor roy cooper wants a people to remember. >> i know that north carolinians have had to dig deep and recent months. our strength and resilience, and that hasn't been easy, but with the storm on the way, we have to dig a little deeper. just keep each other safe from the wind and water as well as from the virus. >> you can see some o

some states of emergency declared in southern coastal counties and couldn't including brunswick and knew him over. they are expecting he hurricane winds. storm surge of three to 5 feet. we can tell you there's already been a mandatory evacuation of ocracoke island. that was hit hard by dorian last year. we can also tell you camp lejeune to the south of us sent nonessential person's home about an hour ago. the biggest concerns, as usual, storm surge, heavy rain, flash flooding, possible trees down and power lines down. that could happen later tonight into tomorrow morning. this storm didn't do much damage down in florida, john. we were down there waiting for it and it kind of stayed off the coastline. it did lash some florida counties with heavy wind, some rains but not the kind of flooding that they were most concerned about. the other big concern is coronavirus where cases have been surging. they open some shelters that they had to keep people separated and provide them with masks. they did that. but right now with the storm strengthening on its way to the carolina coast line, we do exp

flash flood warnings and now tornado warnings with multiple reports of tornadoes touching down in brunswick county just to ourselves, a huge section down there where they are warning people to stay indoors and trying to check out the reports of damages as a result of those tornado touchdowns. this storm is expected to move all the way up the coast and impact as many as 100 million people before it's done and that will include much of the carolinas where right now though storm is continuing to whip in off of the ocean, there is a bit of a wind tunnel effect here, shannon, when you come around here, the atlantic is right there and as you can see the street itself is completely empty, not a lot of people on the roads right now, for good reason. we saw the beaches were closed but there were people out there earlier, shannon, just to check things out but nobody is on the streets anymore because this thing has gotten pretty wicked. right now we are in a bit of a law but we are expecting it to pick up again as it continues to come ashore and make its way to the north and northeast. we do have at l
