fox's jeff paul live in galveston, texas. jeff?orter: connell, tropical storm beta officially about to make landfall here along the texas coastline. we're certainly feeling the impact of this tropical storm. the outer bands all day today really packing strong winds but mostly rain. that is the concern right now. as it gets closer and closer to both the texas and louisiana coast. you can see the birds out here are not too phased by tropical storm beta but the certain at the moment at least is the rain. you remember hurricane harvey which many of these people in this community certainly remember happening nearly four years ago, a little over four years ago where a storm came onshore and dumped lots and lots of rain. that is the concern. we have heard of flooding, typically see flooding in low-lying areas. nevertheless the concern is very real. the authorities are preparing for the worst possible scenario. >> we will see a combination of the surge, combination of the fresh water rain and a combination of the high tide which could give

jeff paul, the latest from louisville. jeff. reporter: yeah, neil, once again the 9:00 p.m.lace again as the city prepares for what could be another night of fiery protests. they have some dump trucks set up on the perimeter of the downtown corridor to prevent people driving down here. things getting out of hand last night, half an hour before the 9:00 p.m. curfew. when investigators say two officers were shot. they were responding to a call for shots fired and when they got to the scene, investigators say they were hit. now both of them are expected to survive. in fact one is already out out f the hospital. they made an arrest in the case, arresting a gentleman goes by the name of rarynzo johnson. >> the situation last night could have been so much worse for our officers and people who were protesting when the gun fire rang out. reporter: protests are expected to happen again yesterday, things did not get bad until late in the evening. that is when protesters clashed with police when they got close to the mayor's house. after that there were several different protests happe

jeff paul is live in los angeles. >> the family of the man who was shot and killed just spoke a littlego near the scene of the shooting but they have announced the hiring of attorney ben crump. that's an answer as to why deputies used their guns in this particular situation. they want to know, that he reached for a gun, was it in his hands? did they try to stop a man using nonlethal force? the man says he was unarmed and that he was shot in the back. relatives told our local fox affiliate, his name is deshawn kizzie. investigators say two deputies were driving and spotted a man riding a bike in violation of vehicle codes. what exactly that means hasn't been explained. but according to the sheriff's department, when the deputies try to make contact, there was a fight between the man and deputies. >> are suspect was holding some items of clothing in his hands and punched one of the officers in his face and then drop the items in his hands. the deputies noticed that inside the clothing items that he dropped was that black semiautomatic handgun at which time a deputy-involved shooting occu

jeff paul is live in monrovia, california to tell us about what is going on. jeff?yeah, dana, the air quality is so poor. there's so much smoke. you can barely make out and see the hills of the angeles national forest, which is behind us. looks like it's a cloudy day today. in reality, it's all of the smoke that is blanketing the sunlight. that's coming from this fire, which is the bobcat fire, which is just one of 90 major fires burning throughout the western united states. oregon is one of the hardest hit areas where fires have killed three people and destroyed five towns. california though is seeing the most devastation. more than three million acres burning this year and 4,000 homes lost to these fires. cal fire saying 12 people have died since the start of 2020. right now authorities are searching for as many as a dozen people who are unaccounted for in northern california. >> absolutely the most intense one that i've been at. yeah, there's more upsetting ones. this is the fieriest one. >> firefighters with cal fire say weather conditions have improved slightly
