shannon: marianne rafferty live in los angeles have dozens of fires recap across the state. what is the latest? >> reporter: one of the biggest wildfire seasons on record in california getting worse by the minute, three firefighters hurt, a dozen injured as they played the dolan fire doubling in size overnight tuesday and in sierra national forest hundreds airlifted to safety out of the path of the creek fire, 150 people were evacuated tuesday. right now there are 25 major wildfires burning across the stand with santa ana winds forecast firefighters are bracing for a tougher battle. the man suspected of setting the dolan fire, ivan gomez, was arrested and is being held on $2 million bail. >> 90% of the fires we experience are man-made fires. we are up to this challenge and we are committed and resolve not only to deal with the situation but to sustainably address these issues. >> a record 2.3 million acres have burned in california so far this year compared to 118,000 this time last year. 100,000 are without power. in oregon governor kate brown calling wildfires there a once

. ♪ >> this is a fox news weather alert, marianne rafferty in los angeles.ricane sally re-strengthens to a category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 100 miles an hour as it approaches alabama and florida, already lashing the northern gulf coast with heavy winds and rain, slow moving storm has been sitting just off the coast for days now, threatening historic floods. it is expected to make landfall early wednesday between the panhandle and mobile bay. storm surge and hurricane warnings currently in effect for an area stretching from mississippi to florida. people living in those areas are urged to use extreme caution. the national hurricane center says the storm is close to being stalled and could cause a life-threatening surge. forecasters say sally could dump 10 to 20 inches of rain with isolated amounts of 30 inches in some areas. the storm could also further -- cause further damage in areas already reeling from hurricane laura less than a month ago. once again, hurricane sally gaining strength, now a categors it is just hours away from making landf
