crowds are lining up at all locales including in newtown, pennsylvania.mit to how many can get to the event. despite criticisms of the crowds we've seen no associated spikes in virus cases reported as a result. the president uses these backdrops to indicate not only his preference for in-person campaigning in contrast to joe biden camp who does everything covid safe. joining us from butler, pennsylvania, grady. >> neil, butler county is a largely republican county in pennsylvania. president trump will be holding one of those rallies here this evening and he hopes to solidify the vote that he got in 2016 from republicans here, but he also hopes to win over maybe some undecided voters because, as you know, he won by less than 1% over hillary clinton in 2016 so every vote counts here. i want to show his different stops across the state and four rallies in total. he will be heading from east to west across pennsylvania. we have been talking to voters across the state over the past several days and every one of them we talk to say the pandemic is at the top of

in the president is still talking there in newtown. for that. >>> an estimated 87 million early votes already. whether many of these are counted may come down to signatures. the ones on the individual ballot as well as the ones on file when the voter first registered. the ballot signature verification process is flawed even though it's a big factor in this election. you wrote that the people verifying voter signatures are not handwriting experts yet they are the ones making these decisions just in matter of seconds. who are these people and how much training do they have? >> these are election workers. people who sign up to work the polls to help out. some of them get some training. sometimes it's a few hours. it's not forensic signature training. they are using their subjective analysis to look at a signature that you may have made many years ago when you first signed up for your driver's license. maybe it was on your voter registration card. they are just eyeballing back and forth to see does that look like the signature on your ball

i've bore witness to one of the country's worst gun homicides in newtown, connecticut. right now on the streets of hartford as in many other cities, gun violence is spiking. it's not shocking. gun violence tends to track poverty when people are desperate economically, whether we like it or not they often l resort to violence. and we are at a moment of economic desperation. you should see the food lines at food pantries and food banks in connecticut. it's not coincidental to that economic desperation that we're seeing an increase in gun violence. but gun violence is made a lot easier in this nation because of the ease of access to weapons. our nation is just flooded with weapons. and many of them illegal weapons, many of them in the hands of felons, of dangerous people who shouldn't have them. and we're attempting to pass a universal backgrounds check bill here in congress that would make it harder for felons, dangerous individual, people with serious mental illness to get their hands on guns. it's probably the most popular policy intervention in the country. i don't kno
