msnbc political reporter ali vitali is there. >> reporter: good morning, kendis and lindsey.id see vice president-elect kamla harris touring a market in washington, d.c. there was politics and a little shopping. there's reminders for the struggles of the small business community this season. on the political front, she talked about the transition that's seen, yes, coordination, between people who are currently in government at the staffing level but not between the four principal players here at the vice presidential and presidential level. harris was asked how the transition could go forward efficiently without contact between her and mike pence, as well as between president-elect joe biden and president trump. i asked transition advisers if they needed to see that outreach between biden and trump. they told me it was not mission-critical or necessary to them going forward with the transition. they did allow if trump wanted to speak to president-elect biden, they would be happy to set that up. here's what harris said when asked about it. >> listen, we're clear about the job
